What to Wear Guide Fall 2013 | Tallahassee Family Photographer

Your session is this Saturday, and you fling open your kids closets and think “What are we going to wear?!?!”

No worries! I’ve got you covered. I’ve scoured Pinterest to find you some awesome ideas and a few tricks along the way, to help you decide what your family should wear to the photo shoot.

What To Wear Guide | Fall 2013

First, let’s talk color. The leaves are changing red and gold and brown, and the green grass is fading into a rusty taupe. You can go two routes with this. One, pick 3 neutrals, and mix and match among each family member. For ecample, if your hubby is wearing a white shirt and khakis, you wear a brown dress with a blue scarf, and your little one can wear a blue shirt with white bottoms. Mix and match all the neutrals among each family member.

Option 2: Jewel Tones. It’s the same concept, but instead of neutrals, pick out some favorite jewel tones or rich colors and mix and match.

The next thing you want to take into consideration is what you already have in your closet. The last thing you want to do is go shopping at 5 different stores to find perfectly coordinated outfits. (Or do you?) Pick 1 key item, such as your favorite dress, or a special outfit your child looks just ADORABLE in, and work your decision around that.

Emma has the cutest pink lace dress, so I know I can go and find an off white outfit with tan (neutrals) for me and Brian to compliment what she’s wearing without overpowering her sweet dress. This example is of a blue top, but you get my point:

The last thing you want to take into consideration is what your husband wants to wear. I am not saying that all husbands are like this, but mine is, and I know that I have come across many others that are the same way. They have their go-to “nice” outfit that they love and feel good in. Instead of making the photo experience miserable for him by taking him shopping, just build your outfits around his favorite. A happy hubby during a photo shoot makes everyone happy! See all how easy the dad’s outfit is below, and see how the rest of the family was able to build around the neutral simplicity.

So there you have it! Some quick and easy tips on what to wear for your photo sessions this fall. Pretty, simple, and pretty simple!

Happy Wednesday!
