What to Wear: Engagement Photos | Tallahassee Engagement Photographer

When you think of engagement photos, you’re probably staring in your closet thinking, “I have nothing to wear!!! His doesn’t match mine! What are we going to do?!?!” I know I’m right, because I’ve been there.

So, I’m here to help. What you wear has a lot to do with who you are, where you’re having your session, and what time of year it is. Since we are approaching the only cold month (maybe) in Tallahassee, let’s assume you’re looking for winter wear. I’ve put together some examples and some different was of tackling this problem.

  1. Show off who you are. Are you an outdoorsy type? A tattoo addict? A Netflix and Chill couple? Take these elements into your wardrobe. Outdoorsy girls could wear hiking boots, tattooed peeps should show those beautiful pieces of work off, and the Netflix and Chill couple? Well, they should wear something a bit more chill. I say this from a straight woman’s perspective, so I may not be entirely accurate here, but from my experience, they guys aren’t always so keen to going outside of their comfort zone for wardrobe (let alone a photosession!), so take it easy on them. You do all the hard work, and let him be a nice compliment to your outfit of choice. 🙂

  2. Where are you having your session? Are you going outdoors in the woods? I love a good boho dress. Are you going to be downtown? I love a good black tux and bold ball gown. Headed to a cute park? Some sparkles or classic cuts look great!tallahassee-thomasville-engagement-photo-3 copy

  3. What time of the year is it? It’s winter, but that shouldn’t stop you from wearing a beautiful dress! Bring layers and throw them off at the last second. Stay warm, think warm thoughts, “click” and cover up! Don’t let some chilly weather stop you from getting beautiful winter images! I especially love a red dress at sunset in the winter. The winter sunset is so much different that a summer sunset. Trust me on this.

Hopefully these tips will help you prepare for a beautiful engagement session, and hey! If you want to go ahead and book yours with me, click here to get the ball rolling! At the very least, you can share your love story with me.
